Many believe that copying their work is a high form of flattery but counterfeiting is also a means of a company to lose money as well as its reputation. For example, knock off golf clubs hit the market called Pong, may actually fool someone into thinking they are made by Ping, and due to the low price keep them from buying an authentic item. The buyer has a substandard item and the company has lost money on a sale.
There is a slight difference between knock off golf clubs and counterfeit equipment in that counterfeit items are represented to be the original. A company selling illegal counterfeit golf clubs not only is hurting the maker of the original, but also the buyer. Those who inadvertently purchase illegal counterfeits are being fooled into thinking they have the real thing and may also be in legal trouble by purchasing illegal products.
Many of the knock off golf clubs uses similar designs and features of name brand equipment, but the difference comes in when the cosmetics of the item are so different that there should be no confusion over its brand. Companies typically buy grips, heads and shafts from the same suppliers that the brand name companies buy from so their clubs are going to have similar looks and feel. A manufacturer of legal knock off golf clubs will not attempt to fool the buyer with cosmetics or a similar logo and the legal ones will advertise their products as being knock off golf clubs.
Knock Off Makers Claim To Offer Better Value
While name brand manufacturers will strongly disagree, some makers of knock off golf clubs maintain that since they use the same parts as the name brand equipment makers use, sometime from the same suppliers, they are selling a product equal in quality without the higher price.
In many industries, it is common to fund “store branded†items, which carry the name of the local store in which it is being sold. These products are made by the same manufacturers who supply the name brand items to the same store, but only in different packaging. In most cases, it is difficult to tell the name brand from the store brand once out of the package. With many knock off golf clubs, the same scenario exists. The parts are made by the same manufacturer, just assembled by a different company. However, the names have been changed to protect the name brand identity.

The decision to commit your child to an extracurricular activity of any kind is a very important one. It is a decision that should be weighed very carefully, and based on something your child loves.
If your child loves golf, then you may want to consider investing in golf lessons for your child. Ways to know for sure is to observe your child’s interest in the sport. Taking your child out on the green can do this and seeing how much enthusiasm he or she has. If the child lacks motivation the first couple of times on the course that would be one sign that you may need to help your child pursuer other interests.
If your child does show genuine enthusiasm and you have attempted to teach your child this sport then you will want to evaluate his or her level of playing skills. If your child performs at an average rate or better for his or her age, then you know your child may have potential. You also know if your child has potential if that child is willing to work hard and does not give up.
With considerable effort on both your part and your child’s part and your child still shows not much sign of improvement this could be a sensitive situation. In this case, you may have to tactfully suggest giving golf a rest for a while, and encourage that child to try again when he or she is older.
Age can make all the difference in some cases. In the mean time your child has the time to find other areas of interest, such as music, art, or even another sport that is more of your child’s forte. Sometimes age does not matter, and the child is just purely not interested or just plain old not good at golf.
However, by the time the child has recognized this they will have found other activities to participate in. this does not mean that a child should give up. In most cases a child will be perfectly capable of playing this sport if that child really wants to do so. Again, a little encouragement goes a long way in this case.
If you have determined that your child has potential by one or more of the above factors, you can sign that child up for golf school. In addition, you can encourage that child to participate in local golfing events with other children of similar age groups.
Another great form of practice for a child is to start out playing miniature golf. Miniature golf is much like regular golf, only that the course is much smaller. In addition, it contains carnival-like obstacle elements, which make achieving a hole-in-one more of a challenge despite the smaller course area.
After your child has shown a considerable amount of practice, or has won some games, you will want to consider buying your child a more state-of-the-art golf equipment. Now would the appropriate time to consider having golf clubs custom made for your child. Clubs especially made for a child are tailored to a child’s playing ability and style, will greatly increase your child’s chance of success in the golf world.
If you are a parent who is at least moderately proficient in golf, you can also practice with your child. You can guide your child as he or she experiments with different swinging techniques, and you can help your child perfect putting techniques. If you can teach your child strokes that would increase your child’s chance of attaining a hole-in-one on the green, then all the better.
Additional resources are available for children as well. For instance they can visit the websites of pros, to learn how they have become successful. For every child to be successful they need a role model. Your child can also read free educational and informational articles on both children’s sites and adult’s sites.
Videos and audio presentations can also be useful in teaching child golf as well. Sometimes these are found online, or you can find these in a video store. These are useful because they can watch how a pro swings a club, and they can imitate that pro while viewing the instructional video.
Every little bit that you can do to help your child learn golf will help you to recognize his or her potential in the game.

Every golfer develops their own putting strategy, but some basic principals need to be followed. The long putt is a very necessary tool in the game of golf. The following paragraphs are some general putting instructions that can be incorporated into the practice of long putting.
Putting is thought of as the most important skill in golf. You need to send the ball exactly where it needs to go, which would be in the direction of the hole. The first step in learning to put is to master the pace. This is especially true for longer putts, but is true for any putt. Not matter what putting strategy you use, you need to develop a smooth putting rhythm.
Part of perfecting the putt is to let your arms hang loosely and hold the putter lightly. Both hands should hang like a pendulum from the shoulders. Ben Crenshaw is one person that has been thought of as a master putter. You can use him as an example for some of your putts.
The next step in the putting process is to move the putter away from the ball slowly, while you hinge your arms from your shoulders, and not your wrists. Then, you need to keep the putter head as low to the ground as possible. The putter should be on a line square to the target as you swing it back and forth.
The next step is to maintain your tempo through the swing, accelerating it slightly into the ball. Then, you need to watch the putter head strike the back of the ball on the upswing. In the process you need to feel as though the palm of your right hand is striking towards the target. The best putting strokes are made when the back stroke is the same speed as the front stroke.
After that, you would then follow through with your club to the hole with your club, instead of using your eyes. You can accomplish this by making sure you keep your eye on where the ball was rather than were it has gone. Then, you should count to yourself to two before you look to see how well you did.
It may be a shock to hear that you should not look at where the ball is going. People would think in the beginning that this would be impossible. However, it has proven to be the best way.
In order to perfect your putt, you also need the right putter. This is a golf club that is used for putting shots. Generally, just like anything else in golf-the right putter for you is the one that feels right for you. However, if you need additional guidelines to help you choose read on.
The best choice of putters to use, according to teaching pros, are the short ones, and preferably what is called the conventional putter. This one helps you take the classic putter stance, but it also requires quite a bit more coordination. You can hardly move your wrist, and that is a hard concept for some. However, if you can manage it, a conventional putter is recommended for you.
Another type of putter that is used is the belly putter. This one is longer, so that it reaches your abdomen, which can be used as an anchor. Wrist action is easier to control with the belly putter but the overall feel is reduced, and distance control is harder to maintain.
The long putter is used for greater putting distances, and it is great for people who have weak or aching backs. It takes some of the pressure off of them. It helps take the wrist action out of play; however distances are easier to control. That is why it is meant for longer putting use in most cases. Therefore, this is usually the recommended on in some cases.
It is entirely up to you which putter you use to perfect your long putt. It really can be done with any putter if you learn the feel of the club against the resistance of your body, or of your putting action. Any one of the three mentioned putters are great for using when you need to give that ball just enough push to make it go where you want it to go-towards the next hole target.

The clubs you choose when golfing can play a vital role in the overall outcome of your game. Once you understand when and why you need to use a particular type of club, there are still many choices to make before you purchase your clubs. Before committing to buying a set of clubs, you could rent various sets at your local driving range. This allows you to try out different brands and styles to see what works best for you. Another option is to purchase a set of used clubs, especially if you are new to the game, this could be a good way to start.
When you’re first starting out at golf, you will need a basic set of golf clubs. This set includes irons, putters, wedges and drivers. Each club has a separate purpose and is intended to improve the speed of your swing while helping you to correct any faults in your game. It is important to always use the right type of golf club, as it will make learning the game faster and easier. Before you choose your golf clubs, you want to determine what your golfing skill is. Essentially, there are three levels of ability, low handicaps, mid handicaps and high handicaps.
Personal preference is actually the most important tool in finding the right golf equipment for you. You want something that both looks and feels good. You do not need to purchase brand name clubs to get a good set, many copies will work just as well as they are all made with the same material. The only time you have to be careful about purchasing knock off’s on a name brand, is if the material used to make them is of cheaper quality.
Golf clubs are manufactured to fit people of an average build. This means that typically, a set of golf clubs purchased off the shelf will not be apt to fit you. Not only because everyone varies physically, but also because every person swings their club in a different way. Therefore, one golf club size absolutely is not made to fit all.
Clubs that are either too long, or too short for you will cause problems in your game. Try swinging clubs of a few different lengths until you find the ones that are the right size for you. Your essentially looking for clubs approximately as long as the distance from your navel to the floor. The important thing to remember is not to be in a rush, look around until you find something that fits you properly.
If you have tried out a variety of clubs and are getting serious about golf, this can be a good time to get your own set of clubs. Ideally you should head to your local golf range and get your set custom fitted by a PGA professional. Clubs that are customized to fit you, will allow you to hit the ball more consistently and with precision. Before you do this though, make sure you are at the point in your game where you can reliably repeat a swing.
The first thing that will happen when you go in for your custom clubs is that the fitter will have you hit a few balls. Remember to hit the ball the way you usually would, and try to relax. The fitter will record your swing speed so that the right flex of shaft can be determined. The length of the club will be taken into account so that the club is sure to be comfortable for you. The fitter will check out your hands to see if you will require special grip fitting. When you are done with the fitting, the fitter will be apt to have particular suggestions in regards to your custom clubs. These will likely include the length of club, size and design of the club head, lie angle, shaft type, grip type, and set make-up.
After this has all been done, you are better equipped to make a Then you can make an wise choice on the right clubs for you to buy. When you have the appropriate equipment that is tailored to fit you then your apt to progress and improvement in your golf game.

The decision of choosing a type of golf club to use is not entirely arbitrary. There is a reason that both graphite and steel clubs were made, and each kind works better for one person than for another.
In order to make it easier for you to decide which golf clubs to buy, you may want to consider the pros and cons of both Graphite and Steel Clubs. Graphite clubs are lighter than steel, and this helps many golfers gain a greater club head speed. Graphite clubs also dampen the vibrations caused by missed hits.
The disadvantage of graphite clubs is that they are more expensive. In addition, graphite is not as easy of a material to shape golf clubs into-harder that would be steel. The result is an inconsistent quality among each set of clubs.
The pros of using steel clubs are that the material is sturdier. In addition, steel golf clubs generally are consistent in quality all the way through, and among a set of clubs. The other plus of purchasing steel clubs is that they are less expensive than graphite clubs. In addition, these clubs have less amount of torque and lag than do the graphite clubs.
The major con of a steel club is that is quite a bit heavier than the graphite clubs. In addition, users experience greater vibrations from missed hits. This is especially hard on senior citizens who suffer from arthritis.
It can be a tough decision to choose a golf club. It all depends upon what your goals are and what your current skills and abilities are as well. More experienced golfers usually will make better use of the steel clubs and less experienced players will usually use the graphite clubs.
Whether you purchase steel clubs or you purchase graphite clubs, you have another option open to you as well. You can have a set of clubs especially made for you. Some examples of kinds of shafts that you can have made for you include the ones described below:
The Low Bend Point Shaft is one that helps player with a slower swing speed to be able to get the ball into the air more. The mid bend point is for those with a faster swing speed than that of the person who would use the low bend point staff. Likewise, the High Bend Point Staff is for people who have quit a fast golf swing-faster than most others.
These tips can help you choose the right clubs for you. The other aspect of playing golf that can help you is simply by practicing. If you decide to try one type of club or another and it does not work for you then you may want to try something new. Either that, or if you have used one type for a while and have outgrown those clubs you may want to invest in new ones.
Other aspects of choosing the right shaft can include a variety of options. For example, if you choose to have your set of clubs custom made you will want to consider golf line alignment. This is considered one very important aspect of purchasing a new set of golf clubs. It is a similar principal used in the making of fishing poles as well. It helps correct the natural weakness or irregularity that could exist in a set of clubs.
Another aspect of having a set of clubs made just right for you include determining the loft for your new driver. The loft of a club is the angle formed by the face of a golf club and the shaft of the golf club. The three factors of golf head swing, swing consistency, and material and design help perfect the loft of a driver.
The process of perfecting the loft can take some time and considerable amount of trial and error. After a fair amount of practice a golfer will in time be able to have a pair of golf clubs perfected just for him or her.
Another factor you need to consider when purchasing golf clubs is your swing weight, if you know it. If you do not know it you could easily have it measured. The swing weight is the relationship between the head, shaft, and grip weight.
This measurement is made from the butt end at around a 14-inch fulcrum. Choosing a swing weight has almost the same principal as determining the right golf club loft. The ideal swing weight is determined by player’s feel, and this takes considerable trial and error to find out.
One more important aspect along with choosing which type of shaft to use (metal or graphite) is that of the lie angle. This is the angle at which the sole of a golf club rests on the ground. The grooves on the face of the club should be parallel to the ground.
You can find all the information you need about choosing the right golf shaft for you by reading other articles just like this one. You can also read articles about the game of golf and other aspects of golf play.

Golf - GeneralNo Comments
Golf has become one of the most popular sports in America, and indeed in much of the rest of the world, with most nations finally catching up with Scotland, the birthplace of this sport of kings. But for many years, unfortunately, golf was looked upon as a sport that required money to play and was indulged in only by the upper classes. This actually was never the case in Scotland, just in other countries.
Golfing on the cheap, supporting the golfing habit without breaking the bank account, really isn’t that difficult if a golfer uses a little common sense. The first thing to do if deciding to play golf on a limited budget is to find a golf course that won’t bust your chops with high prices. Of course country clubs are nice, and if you can afford a membership many people consider country clubs to be one of the best golfing experiences that can be had. But most cities have public golf courses that are supported by tax dollars and are part of the local parks and recreation department. These public golf courses are usually very well maintained and provided great places for consistent and enjoyable golf play without the high membership prices of the country club.
If you are a young golf enthusiast, then getting a part-time or summer job at a country club as a golf caddy can be a great way to grab some golf play at one of the top notch golf courses. Famous champion pro golfer Payne Stewart actually began his golf career in this manner, by getting a job as a caddy at Hickory Hills Country Club, at the time a rather exclusive country club in his hometown. By working as a caddy he had access to the club when he wasn’t working and was able to play for free. This led to a career that made him financially well off and the idol of millions of golfing fans.Â
Acquiring the proper equipment at a lower price than you originally thought possible is another way to keep the cost down. You’ve probably heard the old saying “never pay retail.â€Â This holds as true in golf as it does in all other aspects of life. Never pay retail for your golf clubs, your golf bag, your tees, golf balls, gloves, hats and other necessary items. Check out some of the discount golf outfitting shops rather than the expensive pro shop. Look online, especially online auctions. If you have a good knowledge of the type of equipment that you need and have done your homework you may be able to find some bargains. Another good place to look are the large retail discount chains and superstores that dot the country, as well as the wholesale clubs. Many times they will have a wide range of high quality golf equipment available at a discount, or perhaps even as low as wholesale.Â
Used golf clubs and bags, and other used equipment are another way of keeping the cost of an enjoyable game of golf as low as you can keep it. Look in the local shopper paper, the classified ads of your daily newspaper, or online at community websites to find people who are selling used golf equipment. Check out the used sections and bargain bins of the golf discount outlets. Join an online users group, chat room or forum for golf enthusiasts, especially in your geographic area, and let everyone know what you are looking for. Chances are very good that you will find inexpensive golf equipment that way.Â
When the season is right check out yard sales, garage sales and charity bazaars, especially at churches. Many times members and other individuals who no longer have time to play golf will sell their clubs, bags, balls, tees and other items at bargain prices. Thrift shops and flea markets, and even pawnshops are also great places to check out if you have the time. You might just find a bargain and keep the cost of your golf game very low indeed. Remember that a game of golf doesn’t have to be expensive. Find bargains in your equipment and enjoy the game.

Golfing for Kids – Some Tips for the Excited Parent Teacher
Being as it is a very difficult sport to master, It is of a great advantage to kids learning golf to start at an early age. Probably the best tip for parents who wish to teach their children golf, is to always offer your children plenty of encouragement.
Golf camps can provide an excellent learning opportunity for kids in golf, and they come in a variety of formats. Your family can opt for day camps, weeklong resident camps, and parent-child camps. The camps that feature the involvement of both parent and child allow the adults and children to benefit from spending time together while improving their golf game. If your child is older, and aspiring to be a pro, there is yet another option. There are some academies that allow your children to board in and learn competitive golf while also participating in regular academic programs.
If you are not interested in camps, your local golf club may offer classes for kids. Also, various associations provide free or low cost clinics for children who want to learn how to play golf. Although you may wish to teach your child how to play yourself, this is not always the best option. For kids, it is often worth the time and expense to have them taught properly by a professional.
However, if you do wish to be the one to teach your own child the game of golf, there are a variety of ways to go about this as well as things that you should keep in mind.
For starters, you should always begin with the proper equipment: An old set of adult clubs can be cut down in size and re-gripped for your child. Children who are two to five years old should play with ladies clubs as they are not as heavy and use just one iron and a putter that have been shortened. Once children are about six to ten years old, a wedge, two more irons and a three wood, which should still be ladies clubs can be added to their game. They still may need to be shortened for size however. It is at around eleven to fourteen years old that they can begin to use a complete set of ladies, standard sized clubs. Junior boys, who are fifteen and older, should be ready to play golf with a full set of men’s clubs.
It is very important that your children learn about different shots. You can practice by taking your child to a driving range. The best thing to do is to start your child with putting which is the most important stroke in golf. The put is fairly easy to understand, allowing your child to gain interest in golf while becoming familiar with hitting the ball. After the put, your child should learn the chip and run, this teaches them the short game, while allowing them develop the essentials of the swing. Next they advance to full swing iron shots, and then move along to woods.
One of the most important factors in your child gaining an interest in golf is making it enjoyable for them. You could start by selecting a program that fosters their interest in the game while allowing them to have fun.
Overall, it is the parent’s who influence their child’s enjoyment of the game. If you visit the driving range, bring along a friend of your child’s, make the outing fun as well as educational.
When your child has a grasp of the game, try visiting a golf course or a Par 3 course. Aim to take your child during non-peak hours so that your child is not faced with any pressures to hurry through their game to accommodate other players who may be waiting their turn.
Your children can also be exposed to golf in other ways. You may want to watch a PGA or LPGA show on television with them or attend a golf tour in your area. You could even just take them to the golf course and have them watch other people play.
If you want to know how much potential your child has, the best way is to have them play against a peer. A parent needs to encourage their child to take part in as many golf events as possible. It is at these events that the potential of the golfer begins to shine through. When success has been achieved at smaller events, they can move onto bigger tournaments. As your child’s game gets better, they will continue to move upward.
It is always important to remember that you are doing this for your child, not for you. To be interested in learning, the game has to be enjoyable for a child, not filled with stress. Golf is an excellent way for parents and their children to spend time together, learn something new, and stay active.

Golf - GeneralNo Comments
The popularity of golf has never been greater than it is now; this is due in a large part to the fact that it is no longer considered a sport just for old people. Golf has become a game that everyone can play and enjoy regardless of their age. A day spent on the course swinging clubs has a wide variety of benefits for all.
Golfing has become enjoyable for people of all ages and genders. These days, many families play together and even attend camps or lessons at the same time. This allows them to learn the game while having quality time with each other.
Tiger Woods did play a large part in bring young people into knowing about golf. Being that he was such a young man when he started the game showed people that golf is no longer something just for their grandparents or parents.
Golf is also a game that is becoming popular in office politics. Many people prefer to discuss business matters during a game of golf than in meeting rooms like has been done in the past. Not just for men, some women in business are finding that having a vast knowledge of the game will help them shape relationships with colleagues and clients. It is for this very reason that the LPGA started clinics for businesswomen over a decade ago.
Using golf as a networking device has many benefits. It allows you to get to know your colleagues as well as potential clients in a less formal environment. A good game of golf can put everyone at ease, taking pressure off and make for a relaxing atmosphere.
For those of you who want to exercise, but cannot stand the gym, golf is an excellent option. Not only is it a good way to stay in shape physically, it gives you a mental work out as well.
Golf can allow you to keep reaping benefits even after your game is over. Regular exercise can aid in improving your sleep, so a day on the course can help you rest well at night. To swing a club well, requires that you have flexibility, coordination and agility this will help maintain your muscles and ligaments, and help prevent joint strains.
Golf is a game that anyone can play. In many sports you have to be a certain size or shape to play the game and do well, not true with golf. Because golf is so open to anyone, it can often be one of the first steps that normally sedentary people take towards getting in shape. As long as you leave the cart behind, a game of golf provides a good deal of exercise. Not only do you get the benefits of walking, but also carrying your clubs helps to build up strength. While all of this is good for you physically, it also helps you to mentally improve your golf game.
Being outside an on the course has many health benefits. When you are out in the sun, your body makes vitamin D and your brain’s chemicals act differently which can have an impact on the way you feel physically. There are also a large number of psychological bonus’s achieved from being outdoors and playing a game that you enjoy. All of these are excellent benefits no matter your age. However, it is especially good for children to be experiencing these rewards versus sitting in front of a television screen.
A greater increase of focus is another advantage to playing golf. When you spend a lot of time on the course concentrating on your swing and putt, your concentration will improve greatly. This will extend past the game of golf and aid you in your daily tasks as well.
Golf camps for kids are a great opportunity. Not only does this provide your children with a place they can go to improve on their game, but also it offers them the chance to meet many new people.
Golf is a game where with a lot of determination and practice you can achieve great results. This is an excellent confidence builder no matter what age group you fall in.

Golf Rules for Getting Out of that Dreaded Sand Trap
One of the worst positions to be in when playing golf is to get your ball stuck in a sand trap. The best way to get out of that trap is to never get into it in the first place.
Avoiding sand traps-or other traps such as ponds, or rough patches-is sometimes easier said than done, however. In fact, a ball can sometimes get lost in one of these small patches of golfer’s hell. Golfers need a simple explanation of how to deal with this near golf death experience.
In most cases, a ball must be played where it lies. However, one might wonder how that is possible in the case of it falling into a sand trap. First of all, a person will need to understand what exactly a sand trap is considered in the game of golf before they can make a determination of whether or not to play the ball in that trap.
First of all, in the standard golf rules set by the USGA a sand trap is usually referred to as a bunker. Sand trap is usually the slang term for this usually undesirable spot. Also, according to the rules, a sand trap (bunker) is usually considered a hazard.
If a ball is in a hazardous area such as a sand trap players must not tough the hazardous areas, unless it is to remove an obstruction or to keep from falling. Also, one source explains certain bunker rules, and a summary of this explanation is given in the next paragraph.
In one scenario a player who cannot properly identify that a ball is his that has fallen into a sand trap can touch the ball with the club (in most cases) to find out if it is the right one. However, a person has to be careful, because in certain cases a person could receive a one-stroke penalty for hitting a wrong ball from a sand trap (or water trap).
If a person does not know for sure whether they could be penalized for moving or touching a ball with a club, that person can instead hit the ball that they see, with no penalty if it is the wrong one.
In any area except a hazard area, which includes sand traps, a player can lift a ball to identify it and not receive a penalty. The ball must not be lifted or touched except for that which is necessary for identification. If a player abuses this privilege, that person could lose one stroke. Also, if a person lifts a ball in a hazardous area that person will receive a one-stroke penalty.
A person who does decide to identify a ball, however, and finds that it is a wrong one, or even if it is the right one (and chooses to take a one-stroke penalty in most cases) that person must put the ball back in the sand trap exactly where it was found.
If a ball is unplayable that person has three options to choose from and to receive a one-stroke penalty. These options are to drop a ball at the place where the ball was originally played, drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the unplayable one lies, or drop a ball behind the point where the unplayable ball lies. In the third case the ball must be a set at a point directly between the hole and the spot on which it is dropped, and there is no limit how far behind that point that the ball may be dropped.
Another instance that can cause some confusion on the green (or in the sand rather) is when two balls are touching within a sand bunker. In this case, a ball can be lifted if a player thinks that shooting the ball will assist another player. Another other ball can be lifted too, but cannot be done while the ball played is in motion.
Penalty for breaking the rule mentioned above is loss of hole in Match Play and two strokes in stroke play. Also, when a ball is lifted under the guidelines mentioned in the previous paragraph it may not be cleaned.
In other instance, a ball can be picked up to identify with no penalty, but they must not touch it with the club. This usually applies to most areas except for sand traps. In the sand trap a person is allowed to use a club to help identify that ball.

Go the Distance – Easy Tips to Increase the Distance on your Golf Swing
If you are a golfer, chances are that you are looking for ways to improve the distance on your golf swing. The further you can hit the ball, the better your chances of getting a hole in one or at least cutting a few strokes off of your total count. There are several ways that you can try to do this.
Probably the most effective way of increasing your distance is to look at your general health. If the most exercise you get in a day is the walk from the golf cart to the tee, then you may not have the strength and stamina that are needed to improve your game. Adding strength training to your regime is a good idea. Strength training also helps improve the neurons firing to your muscles, which means a higher peak force in your swing. Overall, this means a faster club speed with less effort on your part. You will be able to shoot further more accurately and not tire as quickly. Leg presses, squats, dumbbell presses, cable rows, lateral raises, and crunches are all good exercises to get you started. If you are new to weights, make sure you speak to a trainer before beginning to learn proper techniques to avoid injury.
Along similar lines, make sure that you are not sabotaging your game before you even get out there. Come prepared for a long day. Drink plenty of water before you leave the house, and always carry water with you. Dehydration can seriously affect your game. Make sure you eat a good breakfast (or lunch if you are an afternoon golfer) ahead of time – something that includes both a complex carbohydrate and a protein to give you energy to get going. Carry healthy, energizing snacks with you like dried fruit or energy bars. Waiting until the end of the game to eat again can sap your performance and you will tire more quickly.
Another thing to try is to make sure that you are warming up and stretching before and during your golf game. Going out “cold†means that your muscles are not going to be as ready to begin as you are, which can mean poor game performance as well as a potential for injury. A quick 15-minute cardio workout will get your blood flowing. Some stretches that stretch your back and upper body will help to limber things up as well. Be careful not too over do it – too much stretching and warming up will tire you out before you even get started. Doing small sets of stretches throughout the game can help keep you flexible and prevent muscles from tightening up.
Another factor to look into is the technique of your swing, particularly if you are a beginner to golf. Small adjustments may be necessary to get the maximum distance out of your swing. Have a trainer or other golf professional watch your swing. They can then critique your technique and get you going on the right track. Doing some warm up swings before you go out can also remind your body of the feel again before you get started.
A last resort to look into for some people may be gadgets that help them improve their swing. Weighted clubs have been around a while just make sure that you know how to use them properly. Swing fans are newer to the market and use air resistance in their training. And other companies will promise you improved performance if you purchase their clubs. However, it is wise to take these promises with a grain of salt; nothing can replace being in good shape and good technique.
Also, it is helpful to remember that practice makes perfect. It is such a cliché, but for the game of golf it holds true. Spend some time doing drills that will perfect your balance and swing, regardless of how ridiculous the make you feel. Get out on the green as often as possible, even if it is only for 9 holes instead of 18. Take your kids out to play putt-putt golf so that you can practice your putting. Practice, practice, practice!
With a few changes in what you are already doing, you can quickly get that swing up to the maximum distance and accuracy that you are capable of.
