Golf Clubs

Drive for show and putt for dough. The putter and the driver are the farthest away from each other in range of distance they supply on the course, but people always talk about these two clubs first when they are discussing value of clubs in their bag. If you give them a choice, they will choose driver first every time. You drivers should find the information concerning test result for drivers very useful.

Golf Club Testing – Bobby Jones – Jesse Ortiz Driver - #1

These Jesse Ortiz drivers and fairway woods are the next generation of technology from an earlier Jesse Ortiz design that became the #1 fairway metal on Tour, from 1998 to 2001. Smaller in profile, but slightly deeper in face dimension, this driver is designed with the look that Tour professionals prefer, while incorporating the critical weight distributions that enhance playability and forgiveness for mid-to-high handicap golfers.

Golf Club Testing – Callaway FTi - #2

This very highly rated driver has a carbon composite body and uses an Optifit weighting system, 460cc complete inertial design, and CT/VFT titanium cup face.

Golf Club Testing – TaylorMade CGB - #3

This unique driver provides the user with Movable Weight Technology that includes three weights that can be used interchangeably to alter the trajectory of up to 35 yards from slight fade to large draw for improved accuracy and distance.

Triangular head shape incorporates an exceptionally far-back CG location that makes it easy to launch the ball high and super-deep. Super-Fast Technology reduces total club weight and promotes faster swing speed for added drive-crushing distance.

Golf Club Testing – Cleveland HiBore XLS - #4

The XLS driver has the largest clubface Cleveland has ever made, being 17% bigger than its predecessor, the HiBore XL. Full Face Performance extends the “hot zone” across a large portion of the face, so even your mis-hits fly a long way.

The clubhead size has been pushed to the maximum USGA and R&A limits, giving it a really high moment of inertia so that it is incredibly forgiving. Weight has been added to the perimeter of the clubhead in the form of “stability foils” to keep the club stable as you strike the ball, sending it much straighter down the fairway.

Golf Club Testing – Taylor Made Burner - #5

SuperFast Technology reduces total club weight to 299 grams from an average of 320 and promotes faster swing speed for added drive-crushing distance. Advanced bullet-shaped clubhead incorporates far-back CG location to launch the ball high and super-deep.

Golf Club Testing – Tour Edge Exotic - #6

The designer of this driver was obviously driven by passion, because this driver is an engineering wonder. The driver’s paper-thin, ultra light 15 gram crown is 0.4 millimeters thin and weighs less than any other crown, including the latest in graphite crown technology.

One way most golfers obtain their golf club sets is buying them as a set, insuring they look the same and are constructed with the same materials. While some may look down on buying complete golf club sets as cheapening the game, others see it as a way to make sure their entire choice of clubs meets specific standards in their construction. Some may prefer that the fairway woods they use be made by one manufacturer and their irons by another, for them having a complete set is a matter of finding the ones that work for them.

There are many advantages to buying golf club sets, including the fact that regardless of a golfer’s abilities, when they get out on the course they will look like they know what they are doing. After all, looking good in the clubhouse or at the turn after nine holes is far more important than their actual score. Unfortunately, for this group of golfers most scoring pencils are not equipped with an eraser.

Since the introduction of golf club sets, golfers have been able to hit the links without buying individual clubs. With the golf rules limiting the number of clubs that can be carried in a round of golf to 14, golf club sets usually are available with seven irons, a putter and three woods, leaving the remainder of a qualified set up to the individual.

Appearance Not Only Benefit Of Having Matched Set

While looking good is important, another benefit of golf club sets is the balance and weighting of the clubs will be the same. Whether swinging a three iron or a sand wedge, the club head weight will be equal to the other clubs in the set. Typically, the grips on the clubs will also be the same so there is not different feel, regardless of which club is being used.

Consistency is one of the keys to a good round of golf and being able to have the same feel of the clubs can help. There are numerous products on the market claiming to help a golf lower their score, using golf club sets that offers that consistency in feel and weight can do more than most of the other products. This same weight and grip feel may not be available if a golfer builds the golf club sets from different manufacturers and it may actually cause them more grief on the course.

Ever since the first game of golf was played in the Country of Scotland it has continued to be a popular pastime for many individuals.  Many duffers find the game of golf very relaxing, stress relieving, fun and a way to receive healthy exercise.

However, there are some individuals who are very serious about their golfing game.  These individuals make sure that they belong to a golf club, wear the right apparel, take golfing lessons and make sure that they have the right golfing equipment.  All of these factors, they hope, are designed to improve their golfing game.

Therefore, for many serious golfers there are resources that can help the individual choose the proper golf clubs.  Often these resources provide the avid golfer with golf club reviews.  Specifically, some of these resources include golfing buddies, the resident Pro at the golf course and golfing periodicals.

Golfing Buddies

Perhaps one of the best ways of obtaining a golf club review is from those whom the golfer teams up with.  Often an avid golfer will golf with others who take this sport seriously.  Therefore, the golfing buddy may have recently purchased a new set of golf clubs and may provide good feedback in regards to the club’s performance out on the links.

In addition, a good golf club review maybe obtained by the golfer themselves.  This can be accomplished as they may get the opportunity to try out the latest golf club that their golfing buddy may have purchased.

Resident Pro

Another ideal way of obtaining a good golf club review is by asking those who may have or make a living at golf.  Often, many golf clubs have a resident golfing Pro who provides lessons or may operate the Pro shop at the golf course.

If the avid golfer has heard about a new set of clubs that advertise greater performance with a new set of clubs they may be able to ask the professional about the manufacture’s claims.  Often the Pro will be able to provide an educated opinion as to their claims of performance.

Golfing Periodicals

One additional ideal way of obtaining golf club reviews is by subscribing or occasionally purchasing a golfing magazine.  Often these magazines keep track of the newest and greatest golf clubs that may be new to the marketplace.

Often these golf club reviews are conducted by professionals who may write a column for the golf club magazine.  In addition, readers may provide an opinion of golf clubs that they have recently purchased and give a candid account of their performance out on the golf course.

When searching for new golf clubs you want to find reviews that you can rely on.  Finding reliable golf club ratings can be tough but follow a few simple steps and it is an easy task.  First you need to decide if you want to search for reviews online or use a magazine, either can be a good source for golf club ratings.   Many times theses sites will have different golf club ratings systems so be sure to make self aware of how they rate their clubs before you make your decision.

Steps for Finding Reliable Golf Club Ratings

The first thing you want to make sure of when evaluating golf club ratings is that the place that is doing the reviewing either does not have sponsorship and advertising from the clubs manufacturer, or that if it does it is not an exclusive ad campaign.  It is important that the site reviewing the club is unbiased towards a certain brand.

The other thing to make sure of is that more than one person is giving their golf club ratings.  This is most important because everyone’s swing is different and by getting multiple reviewers and multiple golf club ratings than you can find what corresponds to what will best work for your swing.

Also, make sure that in addition to having multiple reviewers that the skill level for the reviewers is of a level that is appropriate for the club being reviewed.  Clubs are designed for people of different skill levels so having someone who the club is designed for rate it is generally best.

Another thing to check for in the review is what other clubs they have rated and where they have rated them.  If you find that for the most part the website or magazine does not rate a lot of different clubs that it may be very difficult to trust the rating on the clubs you are looking at.  In addition if the rating for clubs you know you like are way off of what you think of them, the testers may be of a very different opinion as to what makes a quality club than you are.

Following this advice will point you towards whether or not the golf club ratings you are reading are accurate.  Ultimately is it up to you to decide what is the best club for you, a task that can really only be accomplished by taking the clubs and playing a round of golf with them.  A day at the range will never be a true measure of what a club can do, so take it out and to see how it works for you.

It happens to even the best golfers as they watch their near-perfect tee shot veer off course and land under a tree. Blame it on the wind or a slippery surface on the tee, but the fact remains the ball is still a long way from the green and under a tree. Using a wood might put the ball on the green but there is not enough room for a full swing. However, if the golfer has a titanium hybrid golf club in the bag their chances of an accurate recovery shot are greatly improved.

For most golfers, the use of a wood is limited to the fairway, or perhaps the light rough but if conditions are such that a wood will not allow the impact to create the desired results, they are forced to sacrifice the distance of the fairway wood for the accuracy of an iron. Played off nearly every surface a titanium hybrid golf club can match the distance of the wood with the accuracy of the iron and help nearly any golfer cut strokes from their game.

Woods typically have a longer shaft that irons and in most instances require a full swing to develop any accuracy in the shot. Irons, on the other hand, offer a shorter shaft resulting in better accuracy, but lack the distance. The titanium hybrid golf club can offer the distance and accuracy to get out from under that tree and on the green in one shot instead of two or three.

Shallow Face Provides Better Lift

Even when there are no obstructions above the lie, a titanium hybrid golf club acts more like a shallow face wood in that it can pick the ball cleanly from the surface. Those golfers who typically do not take a divot on medium to long second shots can realize the longer distances afforded by using the titanium hybrid golf club.

Many manufacturers of the titanium hybrid golf club use weight around the club heads to increase forgiveness in the shot, which provides a larger sweet spot on the face. With this forgiveness, even those with low to mid handicaps can benefit from using titanium hybrid golf clubs. They are currently available in many numbers that include all fairway woods and most irons and even some of the pros on tour are adding hybrid clubs to their 14-club mix in their bags. A golfer never knows when a sudden gust of wind is going to steer their ball onto a less than desirable playing surface.

Golf clubs regularly take a pretty good beating, sometimes before being pounded into the ground on the golf course. Set into a bag with nothing between them, in the car on strapped to a golf cart, the heads bang together on every turn and every bump, which can lead to mostly cosmetic damage. However, since you have probably spent a few hundred dollars on the clubs, a few dollars more on a set of golf club headcovers to protect your investment only makes sense.

Fortunately, there are few rules about the type and style of golf club headcovers that can be used, although common sense needs to come into play. Anything that is explicitly graphic in nature or that could be offensive to any individual or group should probably be avoided when playing on course where other might see them. Whimsical golf club headcovers are generally accepted everywhere and can spark conversation among others, especially if the design is of a recognizable character.

Some of the most common designs for golf club headcovers include animal heads, especially the gopher from the movie “Caddy Shack” as well as those whose real life inspiration are used to inflict mental interference in the game. Sharks and snakes are often used as well as tigers and bears.

Good Covers Protect Clubs Against Damage

Regardless of the entertainment value of the golf club headcovers, they are used primarily to protect the clubs from damage. Particularly the woods in the bag, which when banged together can chip the paint or in some cases leave dents in metal clubs, will detract not only from the appearance of the club, but potentially from its balance and performance.

Many golfers choose to use golf club headcovers only on their woods while allowing their irons to freely contact the others, believing it is cheaper to replace a damaged iron than a damaged wood. However, with the price of form-fitting golf club headcovers for irons being cheaper, relative to the cost of replacement clubs, it only makes sense to use them on all the clubs in the bag.

There are also those that start the round of golf with golf club headcovers on every club in the bag, removing them as the club is called into service. They also leave them off until the end of the round, which provides no benefit in protection while bouncing around in the cart. Golf club headcovers are only effective if they are on the clubs and not lying in the basket on the back of the cart.

If you are any type of a golf enthusiast, most like you have had a golf club fitting before. The length of a golf club is measured from the butt end of the grip down the back side of the club to where the club meets the ground. The standard length for a driver for a man is 43 inches, but again if you are taller or shorter than average, you are going to want to have a golf club fitting to determine which length is right for you.

It is also important to consider the loft and lie adjustments of your clubs. Different players like different loft and lie adjustments and so you are going to have to figure out what works best for you.

To have the most success with your golf game, it is imperative that you go through for a fitting and only start to buy your equipment once you have done this. Especially when you consider the average cost of a set of golf clubs, it really only makes sense that you wait until you have been properly fitted to go out and purchase a set of clubs.

Forest Creek Golf Club is located in the Pinehurst area in the state of North Carolina.  The club was founded in the 1940’s and the course was designed by Tom Fazio.  The layout of the course has gone through some changes throughout the years and an expansion course was opened in 2001.

Facts About forest Creek Golf Club

This first course was constructed in 1994 by Terry and Louis Brown.  This original course was the center of the 1265 acre club and has been named among the top fifty private golf courses in the United States.  The course is very scenic with longleaf and loblolly pines lining the fairways and greens.  Fazio was quoted as saying that the landscape was a course designer’s dream.

In concept the course is very basic; however it still is challenging enough for even the most hardened professionals.  It is a simplistic course without tricks.  Landing areas are more than ample and every shot has a clear angle.  The course weaves and winds its way through the pines touching several manmade lakes.  Overall it measures over 7000 yards in length.

Typical of courses designed by Fazio each shot has an alternative and every hole has multiple routes to the pin.  Forest Creek Golf Club is one of his finest works.  While everything above may make the course out to be fairly easy, strategic placement of bunkers and water provide little relief from errant shots.  In addition the several par fives are reachable in two for the longest of hitters, but you have to weigh the risk of swinging for it all against landing your shot array.

Forest Creek Golf Club is one of the finest examples of Southern golf course in the US.  Forest Creek Golf Club plays like a dream and keeps the challenge level high for all golfers, but remains playable enough for almost any handicap.

The one main downside of this course is that it is a private club so you will need to know a member to play Forest Creek Golf Club.  If you can find one and get the chance to try this course, take it because I know it will be one of the greatest and most fun challenges around.   Perfect weather, perfect layout should lead to the perfect day of golf.   Forest Creek Golf Club offers the perfect venue if you can get in.  In addition to the wonderful golf course is an outstanding restaurant and lushly accommodated club house.
