Golf Grips

In case the bug to play golf has bitten you, it would then become necessary for you to go about the task of purchasing a golf club set in the proper manner so as to help you play the game to the best of your abilities. Even if you already own a golf club set and are looking for a replacement, you will still need to understand the true importance of golf club fitting. In essence, this would basically mean that you have to consider factors such as length and weight as well as grip size to get everything right so that the golf clubs you have bought will end up suiting you and your physique perfectly.

Golf Grip

There are many options open to you when it comes to golf club fitting and if you act wisely, you will easily get to fix your tendency to slice the ball, and also cure your habit of hooking the ball, and in addition, even start to feel more comfortable about the game in general. To begin with, getting the golf grip right is the first important issue that needs to be addressed by golf club fitting.

If you are able to fix the grip size so that it suits your hands well, it would lead to being able to eliminate common errors from your game and that in turn would translate into dramatic improvement in your game. The second important consideration that golf club fitting must address is the length of the golf clubs that you are going to use.

By selecting golf clubs so that they suit your particular dimensions, you will then be able to succeed in personalizing your touch and so, achieve proper height and arm length and also be able to control how much you need to bend your knees each time you make a golf swing. With an ideal golf club length, you are assured of a better as well as safer swing.

Another aspect that needs to be addressed by golf club fitting is the shaft of your golf clubs. It is very important that the shaft must suit your style of play as it is something that will have a decided impact on your swing which can change from fast to slow or even become smooth or jerky – depending on how the shaft has been constructed. Shaft flex is rated as extra stiff, regular, stiff and ladies as well as senior, and you can choose the one that suits you the best.

Though golf club fitting can prove to be a bit more expensive than you would have liked, spending a few more dollars for it can pay you back manifold once you are able to choose the proper golf clubs for yourself. If needed, you should also make use of golf club reviews to help you select the proper golf clubs after which you can start to worry about the fit.

Some good quality retail stores have been known to offer discounted golf clubs and if you are keen on golf club fitting, you should check with them to see whether or not they are offering fittings at lower rates. Remember, it is not only the well-heeled who can enjoy a great game of golf because other options are available for the less well-heeled that will help them to have as good a time as does someone who has paid a fair amount of money for golf club fitting.

Four Simple Steps to Follow When Replacing Your Golf Grips

There are four simple steps to follow when replacing your golf grips.  Of course the question arises as to why someone would want to replace golf grips?  Replacing golf grips is a part of the maintenance of your golf clubs.  Golf clubs are not cheap, and are the tools golfers use to play the game, which most golfers tend to be quite serious about.  Just as a person will clean a computer mouse occasionally or always make sure that the oil in their car is changed every 3,000 miles, replacing golf grips when the time comes is a part of playing the game.  In fact the serious golfer, whether amateur or pro will ant to change grips at least once every season, and many will do so twice per season.

Any good golf player and especially any golf pro, will recommend changing or replacing your golf grips on a regular basis.  With the renewed interest in golf and especially with the amount of time and money that so many golf players spend in an attempt to improve their game and lower their score, it is a wonder that more golfers don’t realize that simply replacing their grips can help them tremendously in this task.

Changing golf club grips occasionally is just one of the chores of maintenance of golf clubs used to improve a game, and golf players have been doing various things to make their games better for centuries. This has included trying new types of clubs, new swings, taking lessons from pros, and many other methods of making a score lower and a game better.  Since golf was invented in the highlands of Scotland over 500 years ago, the goal has always been the unattainable, to have a consistently perfect game of golf.  But, if you wish to come closer to attaining that goal than you ever have before, then take the game seriously and do the same thing for your clubs that you would do for your care. Condition them properly and replace the grips when needed.

Many people choose to have their grips replaced professionally.  If that is your choice and you can afford it, then no problem.  Many people, however, want to save money on replacing their golf grips.  If that is the case, you need to purchase or acquire five items: the new golf grips you wish to install, a sharp knife or razor blade holder, double sided tape, a good cleaning solvent solution, and a work bench that includes a stationary vice.  Many golfers will have all of the necessary items in a home workshop.  Others can easily borrow the items needed.  However, if these tools and pieces of equipment are not available to you, then they should be acquired.   You will definitely use them again and again during a long and full golfing career.

Steps to follow are rather simple.  The club should be placed in the vice on the workbench and it should be tightened with the grip of the club exposed fully. Then the knife or razor blade should be utilized to cut the grip away from the shaft, cutting up towards the end of the club.  Of course, cut away from your body to avoid accidents or injury.  Then take the old grip off and clean our club shaft using the solvent.  A brush, cloth or what have you can be used for this process, but be sure to dry the club when you are finished.  Then the double-sided tape should be wrapped down the length of the grip and the part of the shaft that the grip normally covers should be covered completely.  The backing from the other side of the tape should be removed at this time.  Then apply solvent to the tape, align with grip with the club and move it toward the club head.  Remove the club from your workbench vice and place the head of the club on the floor, making the minor adjustments and alignments that you see might be required.  The final step is to let the new grips dry for several hours.  In the end, you have applied new grips, and your mission is accomplished. This will help you save money and have better golf clubs for your next game.
